Listing says Open, the door says Closed.

Your Google Hours are Costing You Calls

By JTech Jay - Last Updated on 08/31/2026

Google Reads the Hours, Not the Homepage

If someone searches “plumber near me” at 5:40 p.m., Google is not reading your homepage. It is reading the hours on your listing. If those hours are wrong, you lose the tap.

Why this happens

You changed winter hours. You close early on Fridays. You take Mondays off in hunting season. The door knows. The staff knows. Google still has last year’s hours.

When the listing says Open and the phone goes to voicemail, people do not try again at 8 a.m. They tap the next business.

What to fix

Open your Google Business Profile on your phone.

  • Hours for every day you are actually open, including days you close early.
  • Special hours for the next holiday, not last year’s.
  • A phone number a person answers during those hours.
  • An address that matches the door, the website footer, and every directory.

You do not need a new website platform to do this. You need the hours Google shows to match the hours you keep.

A two-minute check

Search your business name on your phone. If the hours, phone, or “Open now” label is wrong, fix the listing before you spend another dollar on ads or a redesign.

Correct hours are not glamorous. They are how a local business gets the call that was already looking for them.

We are in Bozeman. We keep listings, pages, and ads telling the same story, so the hours on the map match the door. If the listing is costing you calls, start with a consultation.
