If Conversion Tracking Is Wrong, Your Ads Are Guessing
Prove the Event Before You Scale
If conversion tracking is wrong, your ads are guessing. The dashboard can look busy while the phone stays quiet — and every optimization based on broken events teaches the account the wrong lesson.
Winter spend makes the gap expensive. When ski weeks and holiday shoppers hit, you need the form, the call, and the purchase tagged honestly before you scale the bid.
Prove the event before you trust the chart

Submit a real test lead. Place a real test call if call tracking is in play. Confirm the pixel or tag fires once, on the thank-you state, with the right value. If the event fires on page load, on every scroll, or never, the chart is fiction.
Match the event to the business outcome you care about: booked visit, qualified form, purchase not a click on a menu. Views are a weak north star. A counted conversion that is not a conversion will burn the week.

Then check destination URLs. If paid ads still send people to a soft homepage, even perfect tracking cannot save the path. Point the click at the page built to convert, the same rule as not sending every ad to Home.
Fix tracking before you scale winter spend

Pause big budget bumps until the test lead shows in the ad platform and in analytics the same day. Duplicate conversions, missing calls, and thank-you pages that never fire are not “learning” they are noise you are paying to amplify.
Gartners 2026 CMO Spend Survey still puts awareness and conversion at the center of media spend. Spending that budget on a guessing dashboard teaches the algorithm three false stories. Fix the tags, then buy attention.
