Early Standouts and Strong Starts at the 2025 National Sporting Clays Championship

As the 2025 National Sporting Clays Championship enters its first full week, energy remains high at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio. After a packed opening weekend with over 2,600 competitors, the nation’s best shooters have already delivered an impressive display of precision and focus across multiple events.

In the Main Event Master Class, early leaders include Dan Callahan (258)Curt Jones III (255), and Joey Zerr (255)— each showing remarkable precision and consistency across the Yellow, Red, Orange, and Green courses.

Just a few targets back, Trevor Shannahan (253) and T.J. Hawk (253) are keeping the pressure on, rounding out a tight top five that promises a competitive finish as the field narrows. With only a handful of clays separating the leaders, every station in the coming days will count — setting the stage for what could be one of the most closely contested National Championships in recent memory.

Shooter Standouts and Memorable Moments from Day One

Beyond the leaderboard, the weekend brought perfect autumn weather, packed galleries, and the unmistakable buzz that comes when top talent from around the country converges for one of the sport’s most anticipated championships. Shooters representing every level — from First-Time Attendees to Legacy competitors — are contributing to a record-breaking turnout and an unforgettable start.

As we look ahead to the week’s feature events — including FITASC, the Beretta Challenge, and the Sub-Gauge Championships — we extend our congratulations to every competitor representing their club and state with pride. Your dedication and sportsmanship continue to elevate the sport of sporting clays.

Stay tuned as the championship continues and the leaderboard evolves — we’ll be following along closely as the nation’s best take aim at the 2025 titles.
