Google Can Tell You Restaurant Wait Times

By Mira Brody - Last Updated on 11/22/2017
Real time data in Google Places
Real time data has been a feature of Google Places for a while now — allowing users to see just how busy a store is before they leave the house. Now, taking it a step further, restaurants can display average wait times. This in formation is viewable under the “plan your visit” section of the business’s Google Places listing or by tapping the “popular times” bar.

Like real time data, these times are estimated by collecting a census from those who have opted in to Google Location History and are logged into their Google account. Over the course of multiple weeks, Google will calculate the average time visitors had to wait before being seated.

So, the next time you want to know how long you’ll be at the host stand before getting your food, Google Places can tell you.
